一枚琥珀色的白鎢礦晶體，錐面銳利、色如溫暖的蜂蜜，立在一小座淡色雲母與石英構成的基座上。它的晶面呈階梯狀而非鏡面般平整——生長層像屋瓦一樣層層鋪疊——顏色從右肩近乎橙色過渡到左側較淡的杏色，通體透明到足以讓內部的裂隙閃出光來。
四川雪寶頂正是這類假八面體白鎢礦的產地，它們生長在高海拔的雲英岩脈中，與綠柱石、錫石以及成疊的白雲母為伴。白鎢礦是鎢酸鈣，CaWO4：以這麼淺的顏色而言密度異常地大，莫氏硬度 4.5–5，在短波紫外光下穩定發出明亮的藍白色螢光，是少數值得為它添購一盞燈的礦種。
