About this specimen
Xuebaoding, Sichuan, scheelite at 6.3 cm and 261 g; a small cabinet piece. A large honey-orange scheelite crystal with glassy faces and a sharp pyramidal form; the supplier notes a mining-contact base.
Scheelite forms pseudo-octahedral bipyramids in Chinese tungsten deposits and fluoresces blue-white under short-wave UV.
The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 6.1 × 2.6 × 6.3 cm (2.40 × 1.02 × 2.48 in) and 261 g (9.2 oz). Disclosed condition: a mining-contact base. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
