這件頭骨只有正面碰過刀具。顱骨後方是原始的晶洞壁——一層糖霜般的白色晶殼，染上杏色的鐵鏽，如冠脊般立在拋光的臉部之後——而它前方的一切都是螢石：太陽穴與下顎是瓶綠色，眉骨處清淡近乎無色，一塊深綠色的斑塊坐在下刀最深的眼窩之內。
螢石是難雕而易毀的石材。莫氏硬度 4，四個八面體方向都有完全解理，刀具一旦吃錯角度，從顴骨上掀起的就是一片三角形的解理碎片，而不是一層薄屑。橫過臉部的色帶是原始立方體生長的殘影：每一層綠色與無色都記錄著晶體生長流體的一次變化，而橫切它們，正是把這些層次帶到表面的方式。
8.9 × 5.1 × 7.6 cm，重 907 g，略低於一公斤，需要雙手捧持。拍攝於樸素的深色反光檯面上，未使用任何支架。照片中的頭骨就是您會拿到的頭骨，連晶簇冠脊都一併奉上。
