關於此標本
乳白色的白雲石以緊密圓潤的瘤狀集合體覆蓋了這件內蒙古標本的大部分，像一床爆米花，鏽褐色的鐵染沉積在每一道皺褶之間。看點落在結殼中斷的那一端：兩顆梅紫色的螢石立方體，半透明、稜角分明，直接嵌在深綠灰色的母岩之中，旁邊較暗的基底上還散佈著細小的黃銅色黃鐵礦顆粒。
白雲石 CaMg(CO3)2 在快速沉澱於岩壁上、而非長成自由菱面體時，便會呈現這種球狀形態，而凹處的褐色是後來的地下水留下的鐵氧化物。螢石摩氏硬度 4，比碳酸鹽的 3.5 稍硬，不過兩者都經不起碰撞。真正撐起這件標本的是那道色彩的推移：溫暖的乳白對上清冷的紫，再對上近乎全黑的岩石，全都收攏在幾公分之內。
標本重 50 g，單手握持恰到好處，未固定於底座，於素色灰底前拍攝。這些畫面中的標本，就是出貨的那一件。
