黑色的重晶石刃晶以各種角度彼此交錯，薄如板岩碎片，邊緣處處鑲著乳白色，而整團糾結之上撒滿了釩鉛礦：數百顆極微小的琥珀至橄欖金色晶體，像落在木炭上的霜一樣攫取光線。轉動標本，重晶石便會在解理面上顯出柔和的珍珠光澤。
釩鉛礦（Pb5(VO4)3Cl）是一種釩酸鉛，結晶於鉛礦床氧化帶的上部層位，而摩洛哥長期以來就是這種棲於重晶石之上的釩鉛礦的經典產地。它非常軟，莫氏硬度 2.5–3，因此這些閃光絕不該碰上刷子。重晶石硬度僅略高，但對非金屬礦物而言密度異常大，這也是它拿在手上比看起來更沉的原因。
正面尺寸 4.6 × 3.8 cm，深 1.8 cm，重 26 g，以黏土固定在圖中所示的透明壓克力方座上。照片所示即為您將收到的標本，方座亦包含在內。
