關於此標本
把這顆瑤崗仙晶體舉向光源，顏色便由內而外翻轉過來：每一道稜線與每一個角都是柔和的薰衣草紫，中央則聚著一泓冷調的藍綠，透過半透明的晶面發亮，像冰層底下望見的水。頂部有一道階梯狀的脊斜向橫過，那是雙晶兩半相接之處，每一級台階都是一次暫停的生長面；內部淡淡的界面，則標出更早的晶面曾經所在的位置。
這樣的色帶是一份化學紀錄。螢石，CaF2，其致色中心取決於某一層生長時恰好流經的溶液，因此礦脈中的一次變化，便凍結成晶體裡的一次色調轉折。摩氏硬度 4，加上完全的八面體解理，意味著最脆弱的部位就是那些角——請托住側面，別捏著尖端。
3.8 × 3.6 × 2.8 cm，65 g，未裝座，握在掌中恰好。照片中的這顆晶體，就是將寄出的那一顆。
