關於此標本
一顆淡海綠色的晶體，塊狀而輪廓近乎立方，坐落在一層極細小的白色晶簇上，而這層晶簇又覆蓋著一團鋼灰色的金屬光澤晶體。綠色柔和而均勻，向背光的左側晶面略微加深，晶面本身平整而具玻璃光澤，並非霧面，在其中兩面交會之處，可見細密的階梯狀生長紋。
石英屬於三方晶系，本來根本沒有理由長成立方的模樣。假立方體晶習出現於菱面體晶面以幾乎相同的速率發育、而柱面受到抑制之時，留下一顆模仿著自己並不具備的對稱性的晶體。位於郴州的瑤崗仙是一座鎢礦，當地的石英常與此處讓底部發暗的硫化物生長在同一批晶洞之中。莫氏硬度 7 的晶體本身相當耐久；下方的晶簇才是脆弱的部分。
3.8 × 3.3 × 3.0 cm，31 g，以黏土坐落於透明壓克力方塊之上。拍攝時的模樣，正是送達時的模樣。
