關於此標本
淡麥稈綠色的螢石立方體橫布在這塊標本的前緣，晶體內部散落著深色斑點，像撒在玻璃裡的胡椒——正是這種材料被暱稱為豹紋的由來。螢石之上，白色方解石晶體以扁平的箭頭狀升起，粉白不透明，與通透的立方體相對，整組晶體則長在巧克力褐色的母岩上。
香花嶺產出的螢石正是這種內斂的黃綠色，方解石則在生長序列中較晚到來，棲在立方體的頂上；生長的先後順序就直接寫在標本上。兩個礦種都柔軟——螢石莫氏硬度 4，具八面體解理；方解石莫氏硬度 3，有三個解理方向，且對酸（包括醋的蒸氣）相當敏感。除塵請用軟毛刷，而不要用布。
7.6 × 2.5 × 5.1 cm，105 g，安放在透明壓克力底座上的黃銅線托架中。照片是就這件標本連同圖中座台拍攝的，座台會隨標本一同寄出。
