這是一枚單晶，而非晶簇：一顆寬闊的立方體，近乎無色，僅在深處透出一絲極淡的海綠氣息，晶面由細密的平行階梯堆疊而成，映光時像磨砂玻璃。白色的細小石英晶簇沿著稜邊爬升，並蔓延到下方數個晶面上；一列黃銅色的金屬光澤斑點則標示出晶體當年附著母岩的接觸面。
湖南瑤崗仙以濃豔的紫色與綠色聞名，因此像這樣淺色的晶體反而是比較安靜的選擇——而且往往更為通透，因為賦予螢石顏色的晶格缺陷與微量元素，同時也會讓晶體變得混濁。此礦種的螢光反應並不固定：部分瑤崗仙材料會回應紫外線，部分則毫無反應，因此若真有發光，請視為額外的驚喜而非承諾。摩氏硬度 4、解理完全，它值得獨占一格層架。
