關於此標本
圓得像被河水磨過的球，顏色像舊玻璃瓶，這顆葡萄石是結核而非晶簇：一團緻密、近乎球形的塊體，表皮啞光而略帶顆粒感，並殘留著一層薄結殼，呈奶白與米黃色斑駁。一道淺淺的縫線繞過其中一側肩部，將頂部分開，像一條縫合線。
葡萄石通常以放射狀纖維生長，而非長成獨立晶體；這些纖維自中心向外堆疊，構築出收藏者熟知的渾圓葡萄狀塊體。這類結核鋸開後，可以看見纖維狀的內部如一把細針展開的扇形；若像本件一樣保持完整，生長方式就只能從光滑而略帶起伏的外表判讀。莫氏硬度 6 至 6.5，這種礦物比它柔和的綠色看起來更堅韌。
結核各方向皆為 3.6 cm，重 70 g。它將以照片中所見的透明壓克力展示座隨附，底下墊著一小塊白色黏土，而照片中的標本正是將寄出的那一件。
