About this specimen
Sichuan prehnite with epidote and quartz at 220 g; a small cabinet piece in a gentle green. A rounded mass of mint-green prehnite in smooth botryoidal balls with a waxy lustre, a patch of dark green epidote at the lower left and small quartz crystals at the base.
Apple-green prehnite typically builds stacked, fan-shaped crystal aggregates.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle. Epidote's deep pistachio to olive green and striated prism faces separate it from prehnite.
Sichuan hosts Xuebaoding, Jinkouhe and Leshan, sources of aquamarine, scheelite, prehnite, gypsum and the epidote-quartz skarn specimens seen here.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 7.5 × 6.9 × 4.4 cm (2.95 × 2.72 × 1.73 in) and 220 g (7.8 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
