關於此標本
這裡的釩鉛礦在光線找到它之前近乎黑色，而後晶體稜邊便亮出濃郁的紅棕，恰似深色櫻桃玻璃的顏色。數十顆短柱狀的六方晶體布滿深色母岩，每一顆頂上都收以平坦的底面，多數稜角銳利而矮胖，並非針狀。較大的個體寬達數毫米，鬆散成列，而不是擠成一整片地毯。
釩鉛礦是一種鉛的氯釩酸鹽，Pb5(VO4)3Cl，六方晶系，形成於鉛礦床上方的氧化帶——含釩溶液在那裡作用於風化的方鉛礦。矮胖柱體加上平坦頂蓋的習性，正是米布拉登礦區的特徵。它的光澤為樹脂光至金剛光而非金屬光，莫氏硬度 3，極易刮傷；由於是鉛礦物，把玩之後值得洗手。
3.6 × 2.0 × 3.0 cm，34 g，固定於照片所見的淺色壓克力座上。指甲級尺寸，置於檯燈下細看，勝過隔著房間遠觀。照片中的這一件，即為寄出的那一件。
