عن هذه العينة
تتنازع درجتا الزيتوني والطحلبي سطح هذه الكرة الصغيرة من البريهنيت، ويقطع الأخضرَ الأغمق عروق كريمية شاحبة تلتف وتتشبّث دائرةً حولها. النهاية مطفأة اللمعان ودقيقة الحبيبات لا زجاجية، ويحمل أحد جانبيها جيباً من بلورات أغمق مائلة إلى الأصفر المخضرّ غائراً تحت القشرة المحيطة.
البريهنيت سيليكات كالسيوم وألومنيوم لا يكاد ينمو قطّ في بلورات مفردة قائمة بذاتها. بل يبني قشوراً عنقودية الشكل وتجمّعات متشعّعة متضامّة، ولهذا يصل كثير منه في هيئات مستديرة تملأ الكفّ مثل هذه. وبصلادة 6 إلى 6.5 على مقياس موس يكون متيناً بما يسمح بتناوله بحرية، ولمعانه الشمعي قليلاً يتلقّى الضوء برفق بدل أن يردّه.
يبلغ قطر الكرة 3.3 سم ووزنها 50 غ. وهي مسنودة على معجون أبيض فوق قاعدة أكريليك شفافة أمام الكاميرا، واللقطات أعلاه تُظهر هذه الكرة بعينها.
