Über diese Stufe
Fast alles an diesem Erongo-Stück ist dunkel: ein dichtes Gestrüpp fast schwarzer Blättchen, zu Rosetten aufgefächert und von grauen metallischen Reflexen durchsetzt. Aus dem Scheitel dieses Gestrüpps erhebt sich der Grund für die Stufe – ein einzelner blasser prismatischer Aquamarin, glasig und an der Spitze eisklar, frei stehend zwischen den schwarzen Blättchen ringsum.
Aquamarin ist die blaue Varietät des Berylls, Be3Al2Si6O18, hexagonal und mit 7,5–8 auf der Mohsskala hart genug, dass der kleine Kristall seine Kanten und seinen Abschluss bewahrt hat, während weicheres Material ringsum weggebrochen ist. Erongo-Klüfte werden genau wegen dieses Kontrasts gesammelt: ein scharfer, hell gefärbter Beryll auf dunkler blättriger Grundmasse, sodass das Auge ohne jede Nachhilfe beim Kristall landet.
Die Stufe misst 4,6 x 3,8 x 3,3 cm und wiegt 54 g; sie sitzt auf dem kleinen Acrylblock, der auf den Bildern zu sehen ist – und diese Bilder zeigen dieses Stück und kein anderes.
