About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Sichuan, aquamarine with mica at 3 cm; a miniature, supplied on the acrylic stand shown.

Glassy hexagonal prisms and a sea-blue tone define the aquamarine variety.

Mica books, silvery to bronze, are the usual companion of pegmatite minerals and add a flash of pearly lustre to the piece.

Sichuan's alpine-type veins and skarns yield aquamarine, prehnite, epidote and scheelite of international quality.

By size it is miniature, 3 × 2.6 × 1.6 cm (1.18 × 1.02 × 0.63 in). Condition is otherwise as photographed.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
