Über diese Stufe
Das Blau macht hier die Arbeit. Eine Kruste winziger, gedrungener Azuritkristalle zieht sich über das obere Drittel dieser Matrixstufe, geht fast ins Schwarze, wo sie in den Schatten taucht, und flammt zu hartem Ultramarin auf, wo immer sich eine Kristallfläche ins Licht dreht. Darunter ist das Muttergestein grau und braun, von rostorangen Verfärbungen durchzogen.
Azurit ist ein sekundäres Kupferkarbonat, Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2, das dort entsteht, wo sauerstoffreiches Grundwasser primäre Kupfersulfide zersetzt – deshalb tritt er als Überzug und Kruste auf verwittertem Erz auf und nicht tief im frischen Gestein. Er ist weich, Mohs 3,5 bis 4, und kann sich über sehr lange Zeit in Richtung Malachit umwandeln; halten Sie ihn also von anhaltender direkter Sonne und trockener Hitze fern.
Die Maße betragen 4,3 cm × 3,8 cm × 2,8 cm bei 25 g, für die Aufnahmen auf weißen Kitt auf einem klaren Acrylblock gesetzt. Diese Aufnahmen halten genau dieses eine Stück fest, blaue Kruste inklusive.
