Über diese Stufe
Sieht man genauer hin, ist das Gold hier gar keine Streuung von Würfeln: Es ist eine Druse aus Pyritkristallen, kaum größer als Zuckerkörner, ausgebreitet über einem Bett aus gerundetem cremeweißem Dolomit. Der Überzug folgt jeder Wölbung und jeder Mulde des Karbonats darunter, sodass die Platte in einem olivgrünen Messington glitzert, der schon bei geringster Drehung wechselt, während eine Handvoll blanker Dolomitkristalle wie helle Kiesel durch die Kruste stößt.
Feine Pyritdrusen dieser Art bilden sich spät, wenn abkühlende sulfidführende Lösungen über bereits auskristallisiertes Karbonat streichen – deshalb kopiert der Pyrit die Dolomitoberfläche so getreu. Pyrit ist FeS2 mit Mohshärte 6 bis 6,5, hart, aber chemisch unruhig: trocken aufbewahren und von feuchter Watte fernhalten, denn Feuchtigkeit setzt den Sulfidzerfall in Gang.
Die Platte misst 4,1 × 1,8 × 2,8 cm und wiegt 25 g, gezeigt auf einem klaren Acrylblock mit weißer Knetmasse. Jede Aufnahme in diesem Angebot entstand von diesem einen Stück.
