Über diese Stufe
Eingebettet in eine verästelte cremefarbene Kruste, die sich wie Koralle über das graue Wirtsgestein legt, besetzen Dutzende kleiner violetter Fluorit-Würfel diese handgroße Platte, keiner davon groß. Gegen das Licht gehalten werden die Würfel durchscheinend und zeigen hellere Kerne in dunkleren Außenzonen; dazwischen liegen einige farblose Blättchen, und die abgewandte Plattenkante trägt über den Bruch hinweg eine zweite Reihe Kristalle.
Yaogangxian in Chenzhou, Hunan, ist eine Wolframgrube, die Sammlern vor allem für das bekannt ist, was neben dem Erz aus ihren Klüften kam – Fluorit vor allem anderen, in nahezu jeder Farbe, die die Art hergibt. Platten wie diese, auf denen kleine leuchtende Würfel über eine strukturierte Auflage verteilt sind, statt sich in einem einzelnen Schaukristall zu bündeln, belohnen das genaue Hinsehen. Fluorit hat Mohshärte 4 bei vollkommener oktaedrischer Spaltbarkeit, und eine angestoßene Ecke ist der übliche Schaden.
Die Platte misst 9,4 × 8,9 × 4,3 cm bei 360 g und wird ohne Ständer verkauft. Diese Aufnahmen halten genau diese Platte fest.
