Über diese Stufe
Die ganze Dramatik sammelt sich in einer Ecke. Eine Gruppe tafeliger Sechsecke in Blutrot und Orangebraun, das größte nahe 8 mm quer, steht oben rechts erhaben da, während weiter unten eine Streuung sehr viel kleinerer Kristalle über der rosabraunen Matrix funkelt. Durch die Mitte des Stückes zieht eine runzelige schwarze Kruste – ein harter, dunkler Ton, der das Rot davon abhält, süßlich zu werden.
Vanadinit ist ein Blei-Chlorovanadat, Pb5(VO4)3Cl, und bildet sich in der Oxidationszone über Bleilagerstätten, wo Sickerwasser Vanadium aus dem umgebenden Gestein aufnimmt. Dieser Bleigehalt gibt den Kristallen ihr Gewicht und ihren nahezu diamantenen Glanz. Mibladen im Distrikt Midelt ist die klassische Adresse für die Art. Die Kristalle sind mit etwa Mohs 3 weich: sanft abbürsten, nichts waschen und das Stück niemals lose in einer Schublade rollen lassen.
Die Stufe misst 4,6 × 2,8 × 2,3 cm und wiegt 31 g; sie steht mit Knete aufrecht auf einem klaren Acrylblock, der mitgeliefert wird. Das in diesen Aufnahmen montierte Stück ist das, was verpackt wird – Block inklusive.
