Sobre este espécimen
Todo este ejemplar de Xianghualing gira en torno a un único cubo celadón, que sobresale de una matriz pálida cubierta de drusa, con las caras formadas por finas terrazas escalonadas y un interior de verde brumoso que se concentra hacia el centro y se aclara hasta casi incoloro en las esquinas. Detrás y a su lado, cubos menores de verde azulado y unos pocos cristales rosados se mantienen bajos sobre la roca.
La fluorita es fluoruro de calcio, CaF2, y con dureza 4 en la escala de Mohs es lo bastante blanda como para rayarse con una hoja de acero. También exfolia a la perfección según planos octaédricos, razón por la cual un golpe arranca una esquina del cubo en lugar de desportillar la cara: lleve esta pieza por la matriz, nunca por el cristal. Las caras aterrazadas registran un crecimiento que se detuvo y se reanudó, capa sobre capa, en vez de cerrarse en un plano liso.
El ejemplar mide 10,2 × 4,6 × 3,8 cm y pesa 180 g. Está fotografiado sin montar, tal y como se le entregará.
