Inner Mongolia octahedral green fluorite with quartz at 13.2 cm; a large cabinet piece with a strong vertical accent.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
The Huanggangliang skarn district of Inner Mongolia is one of the great mineral finds of the 21st century, known for fluorite, calcite, garnet and rare species.
Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 13.2 × 9.4 × 6 cm (5.20 × 3.70 × 2.36 in) and 679 g (24.0 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
