Oliva e muschio si contendono la superficie di questa piccola sfera di prehnite, con il verde più scuro interrotto da pallide vene color crema che le girano attorno formando anse e uncini. La finitura è opaca e finemente granulosa più che vetrosa, e su una spalla si apre una cavità di cristallo giallo-verde più scuro, incassata appena sotto la pelle circostante.
La prehnite è un silicato di calcio e alluminio che quasi mai cresce in cristalli singoli isolati. Si costruisce invece in croste botrioidali e in stretti aggregati raggiati, ed è per questo che tanta parte del materiale arriva in forme arrotondate che riempiono la mano, come questa. Con durezza Mohs da 6 a 6,5 è tenace abbastanza da poter essere maneggiata senza timore, e la sua lucentezza leggermente cerosa accoglie la luce con dolcezza invece di rimandarla indietro.
La sfera misura 3,3 cm di diametro e pesa 50 g. È sostenuta da mastice bianco sopra un blocchetto di acrilico trasparente per la ripresa, e gli scatti qui sopra mostrano proprio questa sfera.
