Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine with feldspar at 5.7 cm and 58 g; a small cabinet piece. A pale blue aquamarine crystal in a rounded heart-like form the supplier names, set on a plate of white feldspar, the two minerals the supplier lists.
Glassy hexagonal prisms and a sea-blue tone define the aquamarine variety.
Feldspar is the matrix of choice in Chinese pegmatite specimens: blocky cream to pale-orange crystals that set off the garnet, quartz and tourmaline growing on them.
Sichuan's alpine-type veins and skarns yield aquamarine, prehnite, epidote and scheelite of international quality.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 5.7 × 3.3 × 2.8 cm (2.24 × 1.30 × 1.10 in) and 58 g (2.0 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
