この標本について
ガラスのように澄んだ蛍石の立方体がひとつ、ごくわずかに氷のような青みを帯び、稜はカットガラスさながらに段を刻みながら、四川省雪宝頂産のオリーブ色と銀色の白雲母の板が集まったロゼットの上に均衡を保っています。雲母の根元には小ぶりの蛍石が寄り集まり、まとまりのよいサムネイルサイズの構図を仕上げています。
雪宝頂の無色の蛍石は、名高い灰重石やアクアマリンの陰に隠れがちで、そのおかげでこうした標本は手の届く価格に留まっています。けれども透明感ははるかに高価な素材に引けを取らず、雲母の台座は、まるで手で並べたかのようにこれを引き立てています。
寸法は 3.9 × 3.7 × 4.1 cm、重量は 67 g。天然のまま無処理。写真は現品です。
