这块维拉克鲁兹岩板上最高的一颗晶体，脚下清澈如水，到了尖端已是满满的紫，是一根几乎笔直立离母岩的纤细柱晶。 它四周有一圈松散的矮尖晶向外倾斜——有的深紫，有的仅淡淡染色，还有一颗横卧在晶簇壳上，像一根倒下的桅杆。 寄主是深灰色岩石，表面覆着一层淡淡的砂糖状薄壳。
维拉克鲁兹的紫水晶正是以这样的克制受人珍视：纤薄、玻璃质、锥面锐利的柱晶，颜色聚在尖端，与巴西晶洞材料那种铺天盖地的浓紫大不相同。 紫水晶就是石英，SiO2，由微量铁着色，而天然辐射在地质时间里把这抹颜色打开。 那颜色对光敏感，因此请让它远离阳光照到的窗台，它便能无限期地留住紫意。
