這裡由一枚晶體獨挑大樑。它寬闊而角部圓鈍，邊緣清澈，向核心漸轉乳白，晶面以細緻的平行階梯層層堆疊，因此光被打散成條紋，而不是一面乾淨的反射。晶體向外斜倚在一道深色的母岩脈之上，母岩表面覆著細小的玻璃光澤微晶，右側另有一枚小晶尖探出。
方解石（CaCO3）屬三方晶系，晶習之多變舉世聞名——同一礦種可以是複三方偏三角面體的犬牙狀、扁平的釘頭狀，也可以是此處這種生長層略微錯位堆疊的階梯塊狀。它摩氏硬度僅 3，沿菱面體方向完全解理，即使接觸家用弱酸也會失去光澤，因此請讓清潔劑與裸露的指尖遠離它。
