這裡的螢石表面像磨砂海玻璃：一列淡青瓷綠的立方體，每個晶面都被細細蝕刻，呈啞光而非鏡面，如踏腳石般鋪在板面上。它們身後的母岩暗如炭色，撒著一層細緻的白丁香色晶霜，正是這片深色襯底，才讓綠色真正顯得是綠——把同樣的晶體放在淺色岩石上，對比就少了一半。
這類蝕刻發生在晶體停止生長之後，晚期帶有輕微侵蝕性的流體再次流經晶洞，磨去立方體晶面的光澤並把稜角磨圓。藏家對此見解不一；它換來的是深度，因為啞光的晶面會把光散射進整枚晶體，而不是直接從正面彈開。螢石硬度為莫氏 4，沿八面體完全解理，因此外露稜角遭到磕碰是唯一真正的風險。
