深邃的縱向條紋沿著這些鋼藍色刃狀晶體的全長延伸，細密而規則，將光線散射成晶體上柔和的藍色暈彩。頂端附近有一支較細的晶刃以低角度分岔而出，晶尖密集之處則散布著淡黃綠色的蝕變結殼。
這類條紋具有鑑定意義。輝銻礦屬斜方晶系，沿單一軸向強烈延長，因而在每個柱面上留下那些平行溝紋。黃綠色的被覆是尋常的風化產物——銻的氧化物在外露稜邊上形成——屬於天然特徵而非損傷。硬度僅有 2，且沿長軸方向具完全解理，如此纖薄的晶刃最適合觀賞而非把玩。
