關於此標本
槍鐵灰的刃狀晶體以各種角度橫越這塊冷水江岩板的正面，最大的一叢幾乎與標本同寬，像一記被彈響的和弦般張開。每一片刃上都刻著唯有輝銻礦畫得出的深縱條紋，較寬的晶面則接住一道硬冷的金屬閃光。它們底下是一層淡色的板狀重晶石與細小的無色石英，橄欖黃的斑塊標記出硫化物開始蝕變之處。
冷水江位於湘中的銻礦帶，多數收藏者這輩子經手過最好的輝銻礦（Sb2S3）都出自這裡，而這也是他們會擁有的最嬌弱的礦物之一。莫氏硬度 2，比指甲還軟，幾乎不需要什麼壓力就會彎折或折斷。保持乾燥、避開直射陽光，而且絕不要清洗它——水會永久毀掉那層鏡面光澤。
