雪白的方解石晶體散落在這件湖南小標本上一叢緊密放射的輝銻礦刃狀晶體之間，卡在刃片彼此交錯的岔口裡。刃片本身從針般纖細到寬闊帶斜面的長條都有，每一片都帶著那種濕潤的金屬光澤，讓這個礦種隔著一整個房間也認得出來。
輝銻礦是硫化銻，Sb2S3，莫氏硬度 2，比您自己的指甲還軟。刃片彎折、刮傷與斷裂的容易程度，遠超過它那機械加工金屬般的外表所暗示；皮膚油脂會在數月而非數年之內讓光澤變鈍。只從底部拿取，絕不擦拭晶體，那面鏡子般的表面就能維持現在的模樣。
此件尺寸 3.8 × 2.5 × 2.8 cm，重 75 g。圖中以黏土膠直立固定在隨附的透明壓克力方塊上，而這裡的每一張影像都來自這一件標本。
