關於此標本
Marvel at the striking patterns of native copper from the renowned Yichun Mine in Jiangxi, China. This specimen boasts unique surface characteristics that make it a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Its vibrant hues and intricate formations are a testament to nature's artistry, offering a captivating glimpse into the earth's subterranean wonders.
Native copper (Cu) crystallizes in the isometric crystal system and typically exhibits a metallic luster with a distinctive reddish-orange color, often with greenish or bluish oxidation patinas on its surface. This particular piece from Yichun Mine showcases detailed crystal formations with a distinctive, textured surface that highlights its natural growth patterns. The hardness of native copper ranges from 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively soft and requiring careful handling to preserve its surface integrity.
The Yichun Mine region in Jiangxi Province is well-known among mineralogists for producing high-quality native copper specimens and other rare minerals, adding provenance value to this piece. Its moderate size and well-defined features make it suitable for both display and study, appealing to mineral collectors seeking specimens that combine aesthetic appeal with geological significance.
Due to its softness and susceptibility to surface oxidation, it is recommended to store this specimen away from moisture and handle it gently to maintain its distinctive luster and intricate surface details over time.
