About this specimen
Jiangxi native copper with cuprite at 12.8 cm and 79 g; a large cabinet-size sheet of natural metal. Avoid dust; handle gently.
Native copper grows as dendritic, wire or crystallised masses with a metallic red-brown colour; freshly cleaned surfaces show the true copper tone.
Jiangxi's tungsten mines, Xihuashan and Piaotang among them, are the classic source of wolframite, scheelite, baryte, fluorite and calcite specimens.
Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 12.8 × 10.3 × 2.5 cm (5.04 × 4.06 × 0.98 in) and 79 g (2.8 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
