關於此標本
一片直立的標本板承載著數十枚小立方體，顏色自清水般透明一路走到淡香檳色，其中少數幾枚藏著淡淡的煙灰色核心。它們面對面堆疊、大致彼此平行，所以標本正面會同時把光線切成許許多多的小方格，而不是從一個大晶面上閃出光來。它們身後的母岩色淺而鬆脆，右緣有一道鏽色條紋。
這種立方體疊立方體的堆疊方式，記錄了一段走走停停的生長史：每一次停頓留下一個晶面，每一次重啟便在前一枚之上成核出新的立方體，而某些晶體內部可見的淡色幻影，正標示著這些界線。螢石硬度莫氏 4，沿八面體面乾淨解理——對寶石切磨師是恩賜，對藏家卻是麻煩，因為短短一次跌落就足以失去一個角。
標本板高 4.8 cm，底面 2.5 × 2.5 cm，重 45 g。已以黏土固定於隨附的透明壓克力座上。本頁每一張照片都只呈現一片標本，而那片標本就是出貨的那一件。
