Über diese Stufe
Schneeweiße Kruste, dunkelgraues Wirtsgestein und eine Streuung messingfarbenen Pyrits über den oberen zwei Dritteln – diese Platte aus Tonglushan lebt ganz vom Kontrast. Die Pyritkristalle sind einzeln und gedrungen, je wenige Millimeter groß, und sitzen auf dem Calcitüberzug, statt durch ihn hindurchzuwachsen; ihr olivgoldener Anlauf hält sie zurückhaltend statt spiegelblank. Rechts der Mitte unterbricht ein kleiner Fächer aus blättrigem weißem Calcit die Kruste, und entlang der rechten Kante bricht das rohe dunkle Gestein durch.
Tonglushan bei Daye in Hubei ist ein Kupfer-Eisen-Skarn, und auf einer späten Calcitdecke verstreuter Pyrit ist eines seiner typischen Erscheinungsbilder. Pyrit ist FeS2 mit Mohshärte 6 bis 6,5, während der Calcit ringsum nur Mohshärte 3 erreicht: Die Kruste ist also der verwundbare Teil. Bewahren Sie die Platte trocken auf, denn feuchte Lagerung ist es, was Sulfide auf Dauer zersetzt.
