One bright apple-green prehnite sphere, smooth and slightly translucent, sits alone on a dark grey matrix that is sugared over with tiny white quartz crystals. The contrast is the whole point: a soft green orb on a black, glittering ground, with nothing else competing for attention.
Sichuan's road-cut skarn at Jinkouhe produces these compact prehnite balls on quartz-frosted matrix; small pieces like this are the affordable way into the locality and sit well in a thumbnail box.
