À propos de ce spécimen
Yunxiao, Fujian, smoky quartz-feldspar-mica at 44 g; a small cabinet piece with the pegmatite's regulars.
Smoky quartz owes its brown-to-black tone to natural irradiation of trace aluminium in the lattice, and the best pieces keep transparency through the colour.
Feldspar forms the blocky, pale crystals that act as a stage for the more colourful minerals in a pegmatite pocket. Mica books, silvery to bronze, are the usual companion of pegmatite minerals and add a flash of pearly lustre to the piece.
Yunxiao County in southern Fujian is a modern classic for Fanta-orange spessartine on smoky quartz and feldspar, mined from granite pegmatite pockets.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 5.8 × 4.4 × 2.6 cm (2.28 × 1.73 × 1.02 in) and 44 g (1.6 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
