DR Congo cobaltoan calcite at 12.8 cm and 430 g; a large cabinet plate with intense colour.
Calcite is the most shape-shifting of common minerals: over 800 crystal forms have been described, and Chinese localities produce many of the best.
The pink is cobalt, not dye: cobaltoan calcite from central Africa is the most vivid natural pink carbonate on the market.
DR Congo's copper and cobalt districts produce the deepest green malachite and the most vivid cobaltoan calcite on the market.
Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 12.8 × 6.5 × 4.2 cm (5.04 × 2.56 × 1.65 in) and 430 g (15.2 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
