關於此標本
一窩深祖母綠色的晶體佔據著黃褐色多孔母岩的中央，四周由較深的褐色岩石環繞，一如林間空地被樹木圍起。透視石晶體粗壯而尖端陡峻，約十餘枚，最大的接近一公分，邊緣還散佈著一些更小的晶體；那綠是只有銅才能造就的飽和瓶綠色，在陰影凹處近乎墨黑，晶面轉向光線時則熾烈生輝。
透視石是含水的銅矽酸鹽，CuSiO3·H2O。莫氏硬度 5 聽來耐用，但三個方向的完全解理使它性脆：晶尖受碰會乾淨俐落地崩下一角，超音波清洗機更會毀掉它。位於納米比亞北部的楚梅布是本礦種的經典產地，而晶體仍留在原生晶洞母岩上的標本，正是收藏家追逐的類型。
整體尺寸 6.6 × 5.8 × 3.6 cm，重 130 g，不附底座。照片中的標本，即是離開我們工作檯的那一件。
