關於此標本
一叢無色的石英柱晶如扇子般展開，最長的一枚以乾淨的玻璃質晶端收尾，而在柱晶交錯之處，一枚薰衣草紫的螢石立方體在生長途中被攔了下來，表面覆霜，內部則是柔和的紫羅蘭色。兩簇錫石直接坐在這枚立方體上——黑色、金屬光澤、稜角分明——左側石英之間還散布著更多錫石，最右端則露出第二片紫色斑塊。
錫石（SnO2）是錫的主要礦石，也是常見氧化物中最重的一類；它近乎全黑的金剛光澤，以及楔入石英扇叢的姿態，都是瑤崗仙鎢錫礦脈的典型特徵。一種礦石礦物、一種鹵化物與一種矽酸鹽共處於同一個晶洞，正是組合標本比單一礦種晶體更耐看的原因。
通透而輕盈，5.6 × 3.3 × 4.6 cm、僅 40 g，以黏土固定於透明壓克力座上，使石英晶錐不致觸及層架。照片中的一切都會寄出——標本與底座皆然，並作為一件整體拍攝。
