關於此標本
這塊維拉克魯茲岩板上最高的一顆晶體，腳下清澈如水，到了尖端已是滿滿的紫，是一根幾乎筆直立離母岩的纖細柱晶。它四周有一圈鬆散的矮尖晶向外傾斜——有的深紫，有的僅淡淡染色，還有一顆橫臥在晶簇殼上，像一根倒下的桅杆。寄主是深灰色岩石，表面覆著一層淡淡的砂糖狀薄殼。
維拉克魯茲的紫水晶正是以這樣的克制受人珍視：纖薄、玻璃質、錐面銳利的柱晶，顏色聚在尖端，與巴西晶洞材料那種鋪天蓋地的濃紫大不相同。紫水晶就是石英，SiO2，由微量鐵著色，而天然輻射在地質時間裡把這抹顏色打開。那顏色對光敏感，因此請讓它遠離陽光照到的窗台，它便能無限期地留住紫意。
岩板為 5.6 × 4.8 × 4.1 cm，重 111 g，以自身平坦的底面安放，不附座出售。這些影像拍的都是這一件，沒有第二件。
