Maggie Liu is the co-founder of MyMineralBox and the curator behind its mineral encyclopedia and locality guides. She grew up in a family with forty years of mining and mineral-trade heritage, and built her expertise the only way an eye gets built: by handling thousands of specimens where they are found.
Her specialty is the unique geology of China. She sources hands-on at classic Chinese localities — Yaogangxian, Xuebaoding, Xianghualing, and Shangbao — selecting each specimen for authenticity, condition, and character. Every piece sold on MyMineralBox is individually inspected and photographed under color-calibrated 5500K daylight, so the photo shown is the exact specimen a collector receives.
The encyclopedia entries and locality guides she curates are written independently and fact-checked against primary references, with each species page covering chemical formula, crystal system, physical properties, and where the mineral is found.
