이 표본에 대하여
호두보다 조금 클 뿐인 이 낮은 돔 모양의 옅은 크림색 모암은 온 스펙트럼으로 산화막이 진 황동석 결정으로 덮여 있습니다. 오목한 곳에는 청동색과 오래된 금색이, 드러난 면에는 장미색과 마젠타가, 막이 가장 얇은 곳에는 청록색과 보라색 섬광이 있습니다. 오른쪽 위의 더 큰 결정 하나가 그중 최고를 지니고 있습니다. 한 면 안에서 구릿빛 분홍에서 금색을 지나 보라색으로 이어지는 넓은 쐐기입니다.
이 색은 색소가 아니라 간섭입니다. 황동석 CuFeS2는 풍화되어 두께가 나노미터 단위에 불과한 산화막을 이루고, 그 막의 위아래 면에서 반사된 빛이 파장에 따라 상쇄되고 보강됩니다. 젖은 아스팔트 위 기름막의 물리학과 같습니다. 막이 워낙 얇아 쉽게 닦여 나가므로 천도, 초음파 세척기도, 산도 쓰지 마십시오. 마른 공기와 부드러운 붓이면 충분합니다.
5.6 × 3.3 × 3.8 cm에 79 g으로 단단히 뭉쳐 있으며, 장시성 더싱산으로 손바닥에 얹고 조명 아래에서 천천히 돌릴수록 보답합니다. 받침대 없이 제공되며, 여기 촬영된 산화막은 이 표본 자신의 것입니다.
