About this specimen
A large dark grossular garnet presents several broad angular faces. Fine surface texture softens their reflections, while small tan areas and irregular contacts interrupt the edges. The adjoining planes form a compact geometric outline with a narrower lower projection. The second photograph changes the emphasis from the broad front face to the sloping side, showing the crystal's depth and the contrasting small pale details around its darker margins. Dimensions: 4.7 × 3.6 × 5.7 cm / 47 × 36 × 57 mm / 1.85 × 1.42 × 2.24 inch. Estimated weight: 97 g / 3.42 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
