About this specimen
Small golden-yellow mimetite crystals densely cover the front of a compact matrix associated with galena. The larger photograph shows the uneven outline and a pale band across the lower portion, while the close view reveals many separate sparkling faces. Tiny dark gaps interrupt the yellow growth and add depth between neighboring crystals. Its interest lies in the detailed texture of this dense crystal covering, which becomes much clearer when the specimen is viewed close up. Dimensions: 2.5 × 1.8 × 3 cm / 25 × 18 × 30 mm / 0.98 × 0.71 × 1.18 inch. Estimated weight: 34 g / 1.20 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
