About this specimen
Bright orange garnet crystals of different sizes rest on an elongated cream-colored matrix. Two larger faceted forms stand near the middle, surrounded by smaller orange points and darker narrow lines across the pale surface. Quartz and feldspar are recorded in the association. The side view shows the shallow matrix and the projection of the larger garnets above it, giving the piece a low profile punctuated by concentrated warm color. Dimensions: 5.2 × 1.6 × 2.5 cm / 52 × 16 × 25 mm / 2.05 × 0.63 × 0.98 inch. Estimated weight: 21 g / 0.74 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
