About this specimen
Dark marmatite faces carry deep parallel ridges across a broad low group. Golden pyrite crystals rest near the upper edge, with pale dolomite and quartz details around the surrounding mineral surface. A second supplied photograph uses ultraviolet lighting and shows the specimen under a strong violet cast. The ordinary-light image provides the clearest view of the metallic ridges, contrasting the large dark planes with the smaller bright pyrite faces above them. Dimensions: 3.6 × 2.2 × 2.1 cm / 36 × 22 × 21 mm / 1.42 × 0.87 × 0.83 inch. Estimated weight: 16 g / 0.56 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
