Über diese Stufe
Zwei Rosetten sind an dieser mexikanischen Wüstenrose zu einer verwachsen: ein kleinerer Kopf, der auf einem breiteren Körper ruht, jede aus überlappenden Blättern aufgebaut, die sich nach außen wölben wie die Blütenblätter einer getrockneten Blüte. Die Farbe ist durch und durch Sand – mattes Beige, mit sichtbarem Korn in jeder Platte.
Rosen wie diese entstehen unter der Erde, nicht an der Oberfläche. Gips (CaSO4·2H2O) kristallisiert aus verdunstendem Porenwasser in trockenem Untergrund aus und wächst schlicht um allen Sand herum, der ihm im Weg liegt – deshalb sind die Blätter körnig und undurchsichtig statt klar. Gips hat Mohshärte 2 – ein Fingernagel hinterlässt eine Spur – und der Sandanteil macht die Blattkanten mürbe: Heben Sie das Stück an der Basis an und halten Sie es trocken, denn stehendes Wasser löst Gips langsam, aber sicher.
3,8 × 2,5 × 2,0 cm und nur 20 g, mit Knetmasse auf einem klaren Acrylblock gesetzt. Jedes Bild zeigt dieses Rosettenpaar selbst, montiert wie abgebildet.
