Yunnan stalactitic blue aragonite at 54 g; a small cabinet piece with delicate upright fingers.
Aragonite is the orthorhombic form of calcium carbonate; it favours needle-like and pseudo-hexagonal twinned crystals over calcite's rhombs.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 6.5 × 4.3 × 3 cm (2.56 × 1.69 × 1.18 in) and 54 g (1.9 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
