About this specimen
Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan, bournonite at 1.8 cm; a thumbnail, supplied in the display box shown. Lead- and antimony-bearing: handle the specimen whole, keep it away from children and wash hands afterwards.
Steel-grey and metallic, bournonite grows with quartz, siderite and sulfides in hydrothermal veins; wash your hands after handling lead-bearing minerals.
Hunan is the heartland of Chinese mineral collecting, home to Yaogangxian, Xianghualing and Shangbao, and its fluorite, calcite and sulfides are the benchmark for the country.
