About this specimen
Blocky, bronze-brown crystals pile up like a miniature fortress in this compact Sichuan cluster. Glimpses of dark green epidote show between them, and a small clear quartz point stands on top. The crystal faces have a metallic, slightly iridescent sheen that changes from copper to gold as the piece is turned. The supplier identifies it as epidote with an iron silicate and quartz.
Minerals: Epidote, quartz, iron-bearing silicate (as identified by the supplier)
Locality: Sichuan, China
Approximate size: 3.7 × 2.4 × 2 cm / 37 × 24 × 20 mm / 1.46 × 0.94 × 0.79 in
Estimated weight: about 30 g / 1.06 oz
The supplier reports 3.7 × 2.4 cm and sized the piece against a 5 cm specimen box. The 2.0 cm depth and the weight are visual estimates from the photos and video, not ruler or scale measurements.
